CASTELLO DI MONTECHIARUGOLO – LASER SCANNING & 360° VIDEO

PARMA, ITALY

Built on the remains of an old thirteenth-century nucleus destroyed in 1313, the castle of Montechiarugolo is located in the province of Parma in the municipality of Montechiarugolo.

The castle shows the fifteenth-century imprint conferred on it by Guido Torelli, leader of the Visconti and awarded the fief of Montechiarugolo in 1406. Subsequently, during the 1500s, when the castle was visited by illustrious guests such as Pope Paul III and the king of France Francis I, Pomponio Torelli, a humanist and man of letters, it gave it new splendor by calling you artists and painters of the time.

Unlike the tools generally used for classic topographic surveys, the laser scanner allows to acquire much more information that can subsequently be used for different purposes, such as for the creation of interactive databases. The data is commonly processed in a CAD environment to create 2D plans and profiles and three-dimensional models. Furthermore, open source software and applications make it possible to manage the data obtained more easily and thanks to new technologies such as virtual reality viewers it is possible to interact directly through 3D models even without special computer knowledge.
