The Luigi Donini Museum of Prehistory in the Bologna municipality of San Lazzaro di Savena exhibits some of the most important paleontological finds and life-size reproductions of animals that lived thousands of years ago within the Abbadessa Gypsum and Badlands Regional Park and beyond.

Thanks to the use of 3D laser scanners and high-precision photogrammetry, it was possible to recreate a detailed digital replica of the exhibition spaces, installations and archaeological finds.
This survey not only allows for accurate and long-lasting documentation, but also opens the way to new forms of fruition: virtual visits, interactive experiences and immersive educational projects.
