Built between the 11th and 12th centuries, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Lomello is one of the most significant examples of Romanesque architecture in Lombardy. Its simple but solemn structure encloses centuries of faith, art and culture. The semicircular apse, the elegant terracotta decorations and the brick walls speak the language of time, intact in its essentiality.
It is not only its architectural beauty that makes it special. According to tradition, the wedding between Queen Teodolinda and the Lombard king Agilulfo took place in Lomello, making this place a meeting point between history and legend.

We created the three-dimensional survey with laser scanner to monitor the state of conservation and plan future restoration interventions in a more effective and less invasive way. Through the three-dimensional modeling in a BIM environment performed for this project, it was also possible to create permanent digital documentation, essential for future protection.
Thanks to the photogrammetric survey carried out outside with the use of a drone, we also created a high-resolution orthophoto of the external areas of the basilica and the three-dimensional survey of the roofs.
